The GWHEA is working closely with the Walking Horse Owners Association (WHOA) to put on a series of flat-shod pleasure shows here in Georgia for 2014.  These shows are co-sponsored by WHOA and GWHEA, and will be affiliated with the WHOA HIO. The purpose of these shows is to provide a place where people can bring their flat-shod horses and have a day of fun in a relaxed and casual atmosphere at a reasonable cost, and meet other people who enjoy doing the same.  These shows are scheduled in conjunction with our regular GWHEA show, so you can participate in two shows using the same amount of fuel!

In order to create a fun and friendly atmosphere, we have a mixture of rail classes such as trail pleasure, country pleasure, spotted pleasure, racking pleasure, etc., along with versatility classes such as trail obstacle, water glass, bareback, etc. In order to include everyone, we have the All Day Pleasure classes in which horses should be gaited, but do not have to be registered with TWHBEA – these classes are similar to the Go As You Please classes that many horse shows currently offer. Best of all – formal attire is not required – just wear your jeans and come on out and have some fun!

So far, there are four of these shows scheduled in Georgia for the 2014 season, and if we get good response from our members, we will add more.  The WHOA shows are scheduled the same day as a regular GWHEA evening horse show and will start at 1:00 in the afternoon.  They will run around 2 – 2½  hours, giving everyone time to take a break, get some refreshments and then participate in the evening show.
