Kenneth E. “Pete” Banks, age 84, of Williamsport, Tennessee passed away Friday, July 11, 2014 at his home with his family and special friends by his side.
Pete was born May 21, 1930 in Duck River, Tennessee to the late Mitchum R. and Olivia Mae King Banks. He was the husband of Louise McCaleb Banks for 55 good years. He was a faithful member of the Greenfield Bend Church of Christ.
He served in the 537th Field Artillery Battalion of the U.S. Army at Camp Carson, Colorado. After his honorable discharge February 1953, he returned home and later became a truck driver for M.C. West Construction for many years. After moving to Maury County in 1974 he began breeding and raising Tennessee Walking Horses with several going to the Tennessee Walking Horse National Celebration. He served on the TWHBEA board of directors for two years.
Pete was a man true to his word, loved to be with family and friends especially at Thanksgiving, Christmas, and Birthdays. His favorite hobbies were his Walking Horses and family.
The family visited with friends Monday, July 14, 2014 from 4:00-8:00 PM at McDonald Funeral Home. Funeral services will be conducted Tuesday, July 15, 2014, at 2:00 PM in the Chapel of McDonald Funeral Home with Bill McDonald and Loyd Baxter officiating; with burial at Totty’s Bend Cemetery, Duck River, Tennessee.
He is survived by his devoted and loving wife, Louise McCaleb Banks, a special devoted family. A. Manson Morrow II and wife Carla Morrow and two dear to his heart grandchildren, Archie Manson Morrow III and Amanda Morrow (Roscoe) Voss; a brother, Howard (Peggy) Banks of Murfreesboro, TN; sister-in-law, Bobbie Banks of Murfreesboro, TN; several nephews, one niece, and cousins.
Pete is preceded in death by his precious daughter Cynthia Ann Banks who passed away July 17, 1964 and brother, Clarence Banks of Murfreesboro, TN.
Pallbearers will be Randy Banks, Lee Banks, Roscoe Voss, Archie Manson Morrow III, Roy White, Mark Curry, and Todd Curry.
In lieu of flowers, memorials may be sent to Monroe Carell Jr. Children’s Hospital at Vanderbilt, 2200 Children’s Way, Nashville, TN 37232
