The 47th annual East Tennessee Classic horse show was held Friday, June 17, 2016, at the Appalachian Fairgrounds in Gray, Tenn.

The charity for the show was the American Legion Hammond Post #3, based in Kingsport, Tennessee. The Hammond Post Honor Guard performs military rites at the funerals of veterans. This group presented the colors before the show, including a gun salute and a moving rendition of Taps. The East Tennessee Classic board presented the American Legion with a check for $2,000. The money will be used to pay expenses associated with the Honor Guard.

The East Tennessee Classic will also be making a $500 donation to the Performance Show Horse Association (PSHA) in support of their efforts to help the Tennessee Walking Horse industry.
