AAEP-HIO Meeting Coverage
The Monday, March 19, 2007 meeting in Lexington, Kentucky hosted by the American Association of Equine Practitioners for all Horse Industry Organizations, the United States Department of Agriculture and invited guests will not be reported on by the Walking Horse Report. The meeting was closed to the press, both horse media and traditional media.
David L. Howard, President of Dabora, Inc., publishers of The Report, was in attendance at the meeting as an invited guest of the AAEP in his role as Chairman of the Board of The Tennessee Walking Horse National Celebration. When initially contacted about attending the meeting, Howard asked if the The Report would be able to send a representative to cover the meeting.
AAEP President Dr. Doug Corey explained that it was feeling of his organization that press coverage would make some of the participants unwilling to participate and make people reluctant to speak candidly. Howard agreed to attend as a Celebration representative, along with Ron Thomas, and to refrain from covering the meeting.
