Dr. Ron DeHaven, administrator of the USDA Animal and Plant Health Inspection Service, has accepted a position as the executive vice president of the American Veterinary Medical Association. As administator of APHIS, Dr. DeHaven was responsible for administering the Horse Protection Act. DeHaven has been with APHIS since 1979 and has been in his current role since 2004. We have not received confirmation as to his date of departure or as to his replacement at this time. We will continue to update this story as more information becomes available.
