            The Report has contacted Mack Motes,a past President of the Walking Horse Trainers' Association, who attended the meeting of industry HIOs in Washington on Monday, May 7, for a status report on the negotiations. Motes, who is currently the Chairperson of USDA committee for the Spotted Saddle Horse Breeders and Exhibitors Association, reported, “The meeting went very well. A comment was made that it was one of the best meetings in attendance. We believe that we have come up with a plan that everyone can live with. There was a general consensus that we had developed a workable plan,” said Motes.

            Wink Groover nor Bill Hawks were able to attend for the National Horse Show Commission, but Hawks’ partner Dr. Valerie Ragan did attend on the NHSC’s behalf.
