Trainers’ Show announces giveaway prizes

The WHTA 51st Annual National Trainers’ Show announced that they were giving “Giveaway Prizes” throughout the show and there will be two grand prizes given away on Saturday night.

WHOA Schooling/Academy Show updates class schedule

The Walking Horse Owners Association would like to announce this weekend Schooling/Academy show starts at 12 noon at Pleasant Valley Farm in Shelbyville, TN. Extra classes have been added for Lead Line and the Yearling Division: Yearling Fillies/Geldings, Yearling Amateur and Yearling Colts.

Local restaurant to extend hours during Trainers’ Show

Hwy 55, a local restaurant in Shelbyville, Tennessee, will have extended hours till 1:00 a.m. on Friday and Saturday evening, March 22 and 23 during the National Trainers Show to accommodate visitors and locals after the show.

Membership and license renewal headline nears

The WHTA would like to remind all trainers that membership and license renewals are due by March 15 to receive the $100 rate fee. After this deadline, the fee rises to $250 and a new application must also then be completed.

Trainers Board and General Membership Meeting coming up!

The WHTA Show Board of Directors will meet Wednesday, March 20, at 3 p.m. The General Membership meeting will follow at 4 p.m. Both meetings will be held at the Blue Ribbon Circle located on the Celebration grounds in Shelbyville, Tennessee.

FAST to give grant to TWHBEA youth

Kathy Zeis, on behalf of FAST, recently announced that FAST will be awarding a grant to the Tennessee Walking Horse Breeders’ and Exhibitors’ Association Youth Committee following a request from Chris Hazelwood, TWHBEA Youth Vice President. The grant will go toward the revitalization of the TWHBEA Medallion Program.

A Breeders Point Of View: The importance of first time crosses

As breeders, one of our main activities is planning which stallion we shall choose for our mares. With all the many variables in raising horses this is one thing we can be in full control of. The only limiting factors in our decisions may be the stallions availability and our lack of finances to pay the stud fee for the stallion; which for our breed none are too outrageous.

SHOW releases notes regarding rulebook

The SHOW Board met last month for its regular meeting in preparation for the 2019 show season with several actions taking place. Last week, the organization released notes pertaining to those action items to ensure all exhibitors and trainers are aware of any changes and/or additions to the SHOW Rule Book before show season kicks off.

Fun Show releases schedule

A tentative schedule for the 49th annual Spring Fun Show has been released by The Celebration. The show will take place May 23-25 in Shelbyville with classes kicking off at 6 p.m. each evening.

USDA follows up on recent meeting

The USDA is continuing its work to update a presentation given to the general public, including walking horse owners, trainers and exhibitors, last month by Dr. Aaron Rhyner. The presentation took place in Shelbyville, Tennessee at the Blue Ribbon Circle, and will be on the USDA’s website in the next couple weeks.
