SHELBYVILLE, Tenn. – The Tennessee Walking Horse National Celebration® is encouraging artists to take part in a competition that will have their work flying high above The Grounds.

The banners that line the streets will be replaced before the 2008 Celebration Spring Fun Show. The Celebration® is again opening up competition for artists and designers to use their creativity and participate in a design contest for the new banners.

"There are a lot of people out there with creative ability and hold The Celebration® as something special in their lives," said Director of Public and Media Relations Chip Walters. "This competition will give the winner something to brag about for sure."

In addition to bragging rights, there will be a prize package awarded to the winner.

Complete rules for the contest are available at www.twhnc.com but some of the highlights include the contest being open to all ages and abilities. The main criteria in judging will be the ability of the submitted artwork to promote the history and traditions of The Celebration in a manner that can be reproduced effectively.

"Free-hand art as well as computer-generated designs are welcomed," continued Walters. "The winning entry will be one that will stand the test of time as these banners are changed out about every 3-5 years. My one piece of advice to those in the competition is to keep it simple and classy."

All entries must be received at The Celebration® offices by the close of business on Friday, January 11, 2008. The winner will be announced shortly thereafter.

Artists that still have questions, after reading the rules, may contact Walters at 931-684-5915 or by email at cwalters@twhnc.com.
