SMITH’S GROVE, Ky. – The historic Smith’s Grove Lions Club Horse Show was held Saturday, June 27, at the North Warren Elementary School. Temperatures and spirits ran high for the multi-breed show. Rob Brainard marked the cards for the walking classes and Beth Nevitt gave the nod for the gaited classes. Over 70 horses made the call for Judge Brainard.

Bennett Stables of Alvaton, Ky., were a dominating force at this year’s show by capturing four titles. Paige Bennett rode A Sure Fire to the winner’s circle in the Open Country Pleasure Specialty class and the Youth Country Pleasure Specialty class for Lynn Marchetti of Cottontown, Tenn. Bennett also received top honors in the Youth 12-17 Specialty class aboard JFK’s Pushy Star for Karen Bethel of Monticello, Ky., while her mom, Leigh, claimed the blue in the Open Show Pleasure Specialty class with Buster’s Rebel Rouser for Pam Osborne.
