Boomer In Command - Equine Obituary





The walking horse world lost another great champion yesterday. Reserve World Champion and multi-titled blue ribbon winner, Boomer In Command was laid to rest at his longtime home in Ethridge, Tenn., under the pear tree adjacent to the barn where his late rider, Andy Adkins spent his last days. The fourteen year old stallion carried Andy to many a victory pass and was an all-time favorite for the Adkins and Sharp families.

“Boomer” as he was known by many, was sired by I’m In Command and was out of Hacksaw’s Doll. He was owned and loved by John and Becky Sharp and began his career under the direction of Bud Dunn & Son Stables. During his three-year-old season, “Boomer” and a young Andy claimed 7 blues and brought the crowd to their feet each time. In his later years, “Boomer” was still a crowd favorite and was always a top contender for the Groom’s Class at the Delta Fall Classic.

Our thoughts and prayers are with the families who loved “Boomer” the most during this difficult time.
