The Walking Horse Report has learned from knowledgeable sources that the Tennessee Walking Horse Breeders' and Exhibitors' Association has hired Charles Hulsey as the new executive director to replace Bob Cherry at their Monday meeting.

Hulsey, who resigned his position on the executive committee at the Monday meeting to interview for the job, was hired later that day.

The search committee had previously interviewed a number of people and recommended three names to the executive committee that were scheduled for interviews at the meeting. The search committee had never interviewed Hulsey since he was a member of the executive committee.

At the meeting, prior to the start of the interviews, Hulsey resigned his position on the executive committee and asked to be interviewed for the job. Following interviews of the three search committee candidates and Hulsey, the executive committee voted several times with Hulsey winning by a 7 to 5 vote.

No official release has been issued by the TWHBEA and The Report will continue to gather information on this story.
