Christmas In July updates class schedule

The Christmas In July Horse Show, scheduled for June 27, 28 and 29, at the Bedford County Fairgrounds has updated their class schedule.

The following classes have changed:

•19. Amateur 15.2 & Under Stallions
*19A Youth All Day Pleasure
•21. Is now the Youth 11 & Under
•73A. Amateur Two-Year-Old Mares & Geldings
•94. Is now WHTA Members Only (Performance)
•108. Ellynor Fayth Thompson Memorial Youth 17 & Under Stake Extravaganza

Class 108 is a $1,000 winner take all with half of the money going to the rider and the other half to the trainer. Cash will be paid in center ring following the win. The winner will also get a box seat at the Celebration and a Walking Horse Report black and white full page ad. All entries will be given a hat to wear with Ellynor Fayth Thompson's name.

Obituary – Marcia Glessner
At 6:00 am, the morning of the 23rd of December, Marcia Glessner, passed away. She had gone through a long, hard battle with congestive heart failure. She was an only child of Ray and Doris Hazel of Johnstown, PA. She was a registered nurse at Memorial Hospital in Johnstown, PA for many years before she started training plantation horses such as Thunder’s Lavish Lady, The Power Source, Coll’s Lady H, Sweet Swirl and many more in Denver, PA. Judge denies motion to change venue and HSUS intervention
United States District Judge Matthew J. Kacsmaryk issued a decision denying the United States Department of Agriculture motion to change venue from the Amarillo division to the Dallas division. The Tennessee Walking Horse National Celebration and Tennessee Walking Horse owners Kimberly Lewis and Tom Gould filed a lawsuit challenging the Horse Protection rule that is set to go into effect February 1st . Obituary – Randall Dixon
Randall W. Dixon, age 81 of Monroe GA passed away on Tuesday, January 7, 2025. He was the Founder and Chairman of the Board of the successful surveying, engineering and architectural firm Precision Planning, Inc. American Horse Council formally requests USDA delay new HPA Regulations
The following is a news release from American Horse Council regarding the new Horse Protection Act rule set to go into effect February 1, 2025. In addition to AHC’s request the Tennessee Walking Horse National Celebration and two other plaintiffs have challenged the rule in federal court in Amarillo, Tx. A decision in that lawsuit should come prior to the February 1st effective date which could render the rule invalid and all or some of its provisions not valid and not implemented. Read More
