2008 Class Schedules Available For Review
Thursday, February 14, 2008
SHELBYVILLE, Tenn. – Class schedules for the 2008 Celebration Spring Fun Show and 70th Tennessee Walking Horse National Celebration® have been posted and are available for review on The Celebration® website (www.twhnc.com) with links on the home page to both schedules.
The Fun Show schedule is exactly the same as 2007 with no changes. The Celebration® schedule is reviewed annually and there are several changes noted for 2008. They are as follows:
• Moved old Class 69, Owner-Amateur Youth Riders 15-17 Years on Walking Mares or Geldings, to Thursday evening, Class 25. The youth novice class is the same night. Exhibitors may need to show in both classes to qualify for championship.
• Moved old Class 88, Owner-Amateur Riders on Walking Horses, Riders 70 Years and Over, to be Class 82. This move was made to have the class presented earlier in the evening performance.
• Put a class in between old Classes 37 & 38. Both are youth classes but with Western and English attire. Youth may be showing in both classes and not have enough time to change attire.
• Deleted old Class 147, Walking Mares or Geldings, World Grand Championship® due to declining entries over the last several years.
• Deleted Western Park Pleasure (Canter) classes: old Classes 6, 71, 152. This division was eliminated due to declining entries over the last several years.
• Added Owner-Amateur English or Western Trail Pleasure Walking Horses, Four Years Old, Adult Riders, Class 41.
• Added Young Trainers, 35 Years and Under, on Walking Horses, 15.2 and Under, Class 70.
• Moved old Class 40, Owner-Amateur Youth Riders 12-17 Years on Show Pleasure Walking Mares or Geldings to Monday morning, Class 96. Received several comments about show pleasure classes being too close together. This is an attempt to correct this situation.
“We always receive input from trainers, exhibitors, and owners each year regarding the class schedule,” said Celebration Entry Office Manager Mary Lynn Dickens. “We strive to make the schedule as friendly as possible to the largest number of exhibitors.”
Comments and suggestions are welcomed and can be directed to Dickens before the schedules are made permanent. She can be reached at mldickens@twhnc.com or by calling 931-684-5915.
The 38th Annual Spring Fun Show is scheduled for Memorial Day Weekend (May 22-24) while the 70th Annual Tennessee Walking Horse National Celebration® is slated for August 20-30, 2008. The Celebration® is the longest continuously-running event in the state of Tennessee.
