OWENTON, Ky. – The Owen County Fair and Horse Show was held at the Owen County Fairgrounds in Owenton, Ky., on July 12, 2008. The rain and wind held off until five classes before the end of the event, with stake horses having to canter in the mud. Daniel Carmichael judged the 33-class event.

Trainers who attended brought several horses each. Kemp Martin captured the most blue ribbons with a total of six. Rolling Acres, Travis Wiley Stables, John Jackson Stables Hankins Stables, Ellis Farms, McQuerry Stables and several others attended with blues as well.

Command’s Rapid Fire and John Tudor claimed the Walking Stake blue for Pam Ellis of Ellis Farms in Harrodsburg, Ky. Travis Wiley was the reserve winner with Swoosh for Isabella Wiley of Danville, Ky.
