Compton-NYPD Win Harriman
Monday, May 22, 2006
NYPD is back in the show ring and back in the winner's circle with a new rider. Kenny Compton guided his stallion to the blue ribbon at Saturday's Harriman, Tennessee Show, their first trip under the lights together. NYPD had previously been shown by Shelbyville's Tim Gray.
Following their winning effort in East Tenn., plans have yet to be finalized but Compton intends to campaign the horse himself for the World Grand Championship at the Celebration in September.
NYPD won both the Three-Year-Old and Four-Year-Old World Grand Championships, as well as the stallion preliminaries in 2003 and 2004. He has been shown a total of 18 times during his career and has won 11 blues, 2 reserves, 2 third place honors as well as a fifth and sixth as a two-year-old. Last year he won twice and placed third in the Aged Stallion Class at the Celebration.
He commanded a record price of $1,600,000 when he was sold to the Compton family.
