Equine Obituary - Armed Man

Armed Man
1999 – 2008

Armed Man, owned by Marti Reel, passed away November 3, 2008 at North Carolina State University in Raleigh, N.C., during emergency colic surgery.  He was born May 5, 1999 and was purchased as a yearling by Reel and Ralph Abromawicz.  From that time through the start of the 2008 show season, Armed Man was under the training direction of Bill Reel Stables.  Under this direction, he earned multiple high point honors with the Virginia Walking Horse Association as well as the Shenandoah Valley Walking Horse Association in amateur, amateur specialty and open divisions.  His wins spanned across Virginia, East Tennessee, North Carolina, West Virginia, Maryland and Pennsylvania.

At the start of the 2008 season, Armed Man was moved to North Carolina to be trained by Chad Baucom Stables.  This last Saturday evening, Baucom directed Armed Man to the Walking Horse Stake victory at the North Carolina Walking Horse Association Fall Tip show.

He was a wonderful, athletic animal that will be greatly missed by Reel and all those that showed against him.
