Ebony's Smokin' Sun was humanely laid to rest on March 29, 2016 at his home at Walnut Ridge Farm in Humboldt/Medina, Tenn. Smoke was 31 years old and was owned by Drs. Cliff and Linda Garrard and shown by both and others during his 23 year showing career. He was Reserve Three-Year-Old Champion and reserve Classic Horse Champion. He gathered many blues during his long show career and taught many young people like Jacob Baum, Gray Barker and granddaughter of Bill and Connie Bobo to ride. He also taught me to canter as well as how to work and show him in Amateur Owned and Trained. He did train me and not the other way around.

Smoke was retired at 23 with ring bone and has enjoyed a wonderful retirement at Walnut Ridge Farm. He loved choosing to be in the pasture or in the barn for 8 years. "Smoke and I were connected at the hip! and when we first brought him home he would not go out in the pasture without my going with him. I spent hours reading a book during the first week at home in the pasture with Smoke while he grazed. When I found just the right companion for him, he was so proud and so tickled to have a new best buddy that was a horse!

Smoke has been in the hearts of many for many years including the James Sills family who raised him. We have been so blessed to have been the lucky ones to have had him all these years.
