Equine Obituary - Jazz In Dixie

The Report has recently learned of the passing of World Champion, Jazz In Dixie on January 10, 2017. The 19-year-old mare was owned and loved by the Mike Davis Family of Cincinnati, OH & Shelbyville, Tenn. Many talented trainers have shared the reins of this great horse, including: Charlie Green, Russ Thompson, Joe Cotten and Jeff Green.

Jazz In Dixie earned blue ribbons at many of the industry's top showcases throughout her show ring career. She claimed her first world championship title at the 1999 Celebration, winning Div. A of the Two-Year-Old Mare class with Charlie Green. Under the direction of Russ Thompson Stables, Sue Harrington rode Jazz In Dixie to the 2004 Owner-Amateur Riders on Walking Mares 15.2 & Under World Championship title.

In 2011, she made her final show ring performance claiming a Reserve World Championship title in the Owner-Amateur Riders 12-17 on Show Pleasure Mares & Geldings class with Meghan Davis.

Our thoughts and prayers go out to the Davis Family during this difficult time.
