World Champion Star's Black Pearl died Sat. night August 23, 2008. She was 27 years old and was the beloved show mare of Erica and Maria Derickson. Many remember this big black mare carrying the twins to dozens of blue ribbons during their 11 and under show career.
She gave our family so much love and enjoyment and memories of blue ribbon rides in Aged Mare, Ladies, and Juvenile competition.
As if Pearl knew to wait on "her girls", Erica and Maria rushed to the farm last night and was able to be with her as she quietly took her last breath.
She was a great show mare and the twins' "best friend". She loved drinking Coca Cola's, eating ice cream , and was part of our family for more than 20 years.
