A fire destroyed part of Rhonda Cato's and Mile Overcast¹s new home Thursday, Aug. 11, 2005.
The electrical fire started around 4 p.m. in the kitchen, which was destroyed in addition to the living room and one bathroom. The rest of the house, in which the family had lived only a month, was heavily damaged by smoke. Thankfully, no one was injured, however, Cato said the fire destroyed nearly all of their belongings.
Cato and family are currently staying at a friend's home while their house -- only the structure itself was covered by insurance -- is repaired. Repairs are expected to be made within six to eight weeks.
