HSUS Never Stops Begging for Money, Even When You Leave

reposted from HumaneWatch.org

One of the jokes about the Humane Society of the United States is that its initials should actually be written “H$U$” because of how the organization obsessively asks for money. File this latest instance under “Example #1,384.”

We recently received an email about a cancellation of a monthly donation to HSUS. In the email, HSUS provided several options for a former donor to tell HSUS why he or she stopped giving. Guess what? All of the options for why a person stopped giving to HSUS link to donation pages that ask for a used vehicle donation, one-time gift, or even loose change. (Um, “no” means “no,” guys.)

We’d call HSUS tone-deaf, but shameless (or tasteless) is a better adjective. These messages show contempt for supporters by not taking a donor’s feelings seriously. But for a group that deceptively raises money on cats and dogs and yet doesn’t run a single pet shelter and only gives 1% of its budget to shelters while racking up unfavorable reviews from charity evaluators, contempt for donors must be part of the mission statement.
