Multiple sources have indicated that Tennessee Walking Horse supporters in the United States Senate will reintroduce industry legislation this week.  In the previous Congress, Senators Lamar Alexander and Mitch McConnell introduced industry legislation that would establish an independent HIO in charge of enforcement that utilizes objective, science-based inspections to ensure the welfare of Tennessee Walking Horses in competition.

On April 28, 2015, Senator Kelly Ayotte reintroduce the Humane Society of the United States' drafted legislation previously termed the PAST Act. This legislation would eliminate the majority of show divisions of the Tennessee Walking Horse and hurt the economies of small, rural towns in the Southeast and eliminate the millions of charitable dollars raised at Tennessee Walking Horse events.
