The Jack Daniel World Championship Barbecue was held on Saturday, October 27, 2001, in Lynchburg, Tenn. The 50 cookers were invited after having won a state title in a cook-off in the United States. The record crowd was estimated by over 25,000, by the Cook off director Tana Shupe.

Lynchburg Metropolitan Executive and colt handler Billy H. Thomas set up a special exhibit for this year’s cook-off. The 2001 World Grand Champion - Pride’s Jubilee Encore exhibited at the event.

“I thought exhibiting the World Grand Champion Walking Horse would not only add to the day of exhibits but would promote this wonderful horse,” said Thomas. “It also gave the people attending this grand event the opportunity to see for the first time a Tennessee Walking Horse.” It proved worthwhile as thousands stopped by the stall which was at the entrance to the event. The stall at the entrance to the exhibit was provided by Mike Bacot of Classic Equine Equipment.
