Johanns Resigns From USDA

Mike Johanns has resigned from his position of secretary of agriculture of the United States Department of Agriculture. Agriculture Deputy Secretary Chuck Conner, who has served under Johanns, has been appointed as the acting Secretary of the USDA. Conner has served the USDA since May 2, 2005 when he was sworn in as Deputy Secretary of Agriculture. Johanns returned to his home state of Nebraska and is expected to announce his election bid to run for governor.
