John Toney Stables Suffers From Barn Fire

John Toney Stables located in Fairview, N.C., lost 10 horses in a fire on the evening of Thursday, September 27, 2012. Two horses escaped safely. Betty Cameron also of Fairview owned the barn and John Toney was the manager/trainer. The horses that were lost were all show horses, both walking and racking. The Buncombe County Fire Marshall's office and Arson Task Force investigators were on scene looking through the rubble. They say so far, they don't see anything suspicious, but they are trying to pinpoint the cause of the fire. The horse barn was completely engulfed when firefighters arrived on scene. Witnesses report 30 foot flames coming through the roof.
