EASLEY, S.C. – Saturday, July 25, 2009, in Easley, S.C., brought out hot competition at the annul Southeastern Classic Horse Show that lasted into the night. Whitey Whitehead traveled from Mt. Orab, Ohio, to handle the duties of marking the cards. A total of 31 walking classes included pleasure and performance classes with everything in between for exhibitors to find room for every entry to vie for top honors.
For the third consecutive show in a row, it was Ritz On The Corner and Sam Martin who were called from the line up to receive the trophy and all the honors in the Walking Horse Stake for the partnership of Brown and Culley. Previous victories have occurred at the Curtis Hamilton Memorial, Land O’ Sky Summer Festival and now the Southeastern Classic. Ritz On The Corner has also been directed to two amateur victories this show season, once by Dr. David Brown at the Florence Charity Show and once by Ronnie Culley at the Sumter County Show.
Capturing the second place ribbon in the class was Robert Kellett and Major Gee Whiz for proud owner Paul Simmons. Rounding out the top three positions was Santana’s Bedazzled and Stan Tindal for Harold Stubbs.
