Obituary - Everett L. Joyce



Everett Leon Joyce, 93, of Bluemont, Va., died Monday, April 23, 2012 at his home. Mr. Joyce was born April 8, 1919 in Washington, D. C., the son of the late Leon and Daisy Mae Brown Joyce.

He retired as a master sergeant in the U. S. Marine Corps after 20 years of active service. He served during WWII in the Guadalcanal, Australia, and New Zealand.

He was a member of the Berryville Moose Lodge, VFW Post 21 in Berryville, Clarke County Ruritan Club, and Tennessee Walking Horse Breeders Association. 

He married Rebecca Rittman Jackson-Joyce on June 21, 1999 in Bluemont, Va. Surviving with his wife are a daughter, Sherry Johnson and her husband, Benny, of Bluemont, Va.; a granddaughter, Joyce Marie Green; and two great-granddaughters, Samantha Joyce Green and Corey Lee Green, all of Shelbyville, Tenn.

He was preceded in death by his first wife, Eleanor May Healy Joyce and a son, Gregory Leon Joyce.
The family will receive friends Saturday, April 28, 2012 at the Enders & Shirley Funeral Home Chapel, Beryville. A memorial service will begin 2:00PM with Rev. Dennis Griffin officiating. Burial will be in Arlington National Cemetery at a later date.
