Frances Elizabeth Barnes, 93, passed away at her home on Saturday, Nov. 20, 2010. A native of Flat Rock, Ill., she was a current resident of Chickamauga, Ga. and member of the Elizabeth Lee United Methodist Church for the past 40 years.

Frances and her first husband, Horace W. Vaughan, started and co-owned telephone companies in Waynesboro, Tenn., Fayette, Ala., Chickamauga and several other areas.

She is preceded in death by her first husband, Horace W. Vaughan; second husband, Arthur W. Barnes; Son, Stephen Vaughan; and great-grandson, Lane Vaughan Smith. She is survived by her daughter, Elizabeth Ann Vaughan of Ringgold, Ga.; daughter-in-law, Sarah Faye Vaughan of Tuscaloosa, Ala; along with many grandchildren and great-grandchildren.

Funeral services will be held Monday, Nov. 22, 2010 at 2:00p.m. at the Wilson Funeral Home in Fort Oglethorpe, Ga. with Rev. Rick Maeser officiating. Interment will be in Fayette Memorial Gardens in Fayette, Ala.

The late Arthur and Frances Barnes were owners of the 1991 World Grand Champion, Flashy Pride.
