Gladys Owen, 87, owner of many fine walking horses through the years, of Cookeville, TN, passed away in her home November 13, 2001.Gladys was very active in her community. She was on the Democratic Committee of Putnam County, TN, Presidents Club of Tennessee Tech and The Board of Trustees Baptist Hospital, Nashville. She was also the former owner of Pepsi Cola of Cookville, TN. Gladys was the daughter of Tom Stringfield and Mary Ryan Stringfield (Deceased). She was preceded in Death by her husband Jesse Owen and survived by her daughter and well-known horsewoman, Kathy Owen of Murfreesboro, TN. Gladys was also survived by two nephews, Horace Lee Terry of Cookville, TN and Dick Fisher and two neices, Barbara Allen and Marianna Poole. Arrangments made by Whitson Funeral Home, Cookeville, TN. And services were held Thursday, Novmber 15th at 1:00 pm. Owen was a member of the First Baptist Church of Monterey, Tenn. and memorial contributions may be made to the church.
