Herbert G. Caldwell, 68, of Jackson, Tennessee passed away on November 19, 2002. He is survived by his wife Jamie (Kit) Caldwell; a daughter Pam Stephens of Woodbury, Tennessee; a sister, Ann Brewer of Byhalia, Mississippi; his mother, Mildred Caldwell of Trimbol, Tennessee; three grandchildren; dozens of cousins; and many, many friends. Herb bred, trained, and showed Tennessee Walking Horses and hakney ponies. He graduated in 1956 from The University of Tennessee at Knoxville with a B.S. degree in Animal Science, and was a member of Alpha Gamma Rho fraternity. A retired livestock buyer, he was formerly associated with Quad City Downs in East Moline, Illinois, where he served as Marshall of the Race. Blessed with a wonderful sense of humor, Herb was known far and wide as a great story teller of funny stories and tales. Herb’s love of horses survives in his cousin, Catherine Caldwell.
