Obituary - James Udell Stubbs

James Udell Stubbs, 84, died Monday, November 24, 2008, at Covington County Hospital in Collins. Visitation is 9 am Friday, November 28, 2008, at Ott and Lee Funeral Home in Richland. Services are 11 am Friday at the funeral home with a 1 pm graveside at Sharon Cemetery in Magee. Rev Marshall Jenkins will officiate.

Mr. Stubbs was a native of Simpson County and a longtime resident of the Jackson area. He served in the United States Navy in World War II aboard the USS Barnstable, where he obtained the rank of COXSWAIN. After his discharge from the Navy, he moved to Jackson and started a trucking company which he operated until his retirement in 1985.
Mr. Stubbs was preceded in death by his wife of 50 years, Jeanine Stubbs in 2006.

He is survived by his son, Danny Stubbs and wife, Shirley of Florence; sister, Hazel Roberts of Mt. Olive; and two granddaughters, Kristen and Kimberly Stubbs.

Memorials may be made to First United Methodist Church in Richland.
