Mr. Jerry Edward Fitzgerald, age 56, of Shelbyville, departed this life on December 22, 2022, under the loving care and comfort of his family, Elk River Health and Nursing Center, and Hospice Compassus.

Jerry was born September 24, 1966, in Franklin, Tennessee, to the late Gordon and Minnie Bell Ransom Fitzgerald. He was trainer of Tennessee Walking Horses who took great pride in his work. He was very passionate about horses and loved training them.

Survivors include his loving and caring wife, Lawanda Stanford-Fitzgerald, of Shelbyville; five children, Jamal Hampton, of Marshall County, Nekedra Stanford, Latoni Stanford, Ronald Clemmons, all of Shelbyville, and Jatoni Stanford, of Murfreesboro; brothers, Timmy Fitzgerald and Tommy (Melody) Fitzgerald, both of Kentucky; sisters-in-law, Terena Stanford and Chiquita Stanford, of Florence, Alabama; brother-in-law, Frank Russell, Jr. of Florence, Alabama; aunts: Mary (Clay), of Shelbyville, Oan, of Murfreesboro; Mary Brown, Margie, Lisa, Emma Jean, all of Columbia; uncles: Joe, Paul, Jr., Johnny, Bobby, and Reuben; grandchildren, Kamille Stanford, Leionna Hampton, Liara Hampton, Ayden Hampton, Alaysha Seymore, A’Kenzie Stanford, Amir Seymore, and Aliyan Ward; a host of nieces, nephews, cousins who he loved dearly, and a special friend, Uncle Roy, of Shelbyville.

Funeral services were held on December 31, 2022, at Feldhaus Memorial Chapel.
