Obituary J.T. Shivers (1923 - 2012)

Longtime walking horse enthusiast, J.T. (Jabe Thomas) Shivers 89, passed away suddenly on August 19, 2012, at his home in Houston, Texas. Born fifth generation Texan in Tatum, Texas, Shivers attended the local schools. Graduating from Sam Houston High School, he attended the University Of Houston. He taught at George Washington and Lamar High School. He served as principal of Lee High School and retired from Spring Branch High School in 1982.
Shivers loved his farm and Tennessee Walking Horses. Trainer Philip Trimble will be showing the Shivers’ horse, Jazzy Boy, at this year’s Celebration. He was a Rotarian and he loved life.
He leaves to cherish his memory his wonderful wife of 64 years, Veva; his sister, Anna Paula Casey; nieces, nephews, many cousins and other relatives and friends.
Funeral services will be held Aug. 24, 2012, at 2:00 p.m., at Westheimer Funeral Home in Houston, Texas.
