Mr. Tom, as he was known, passed away suddenly Friday, January 25.  He is survived by his wife Jennie of Shelbyville, son Tom and wife Judy of Dallas, Tx,  Daughter Susan of Elizabethtown, Ky, and a grandaughter , Johnna Sobel of Clearfield, Pa.
 
Mr. Tom began showing Tennessee Walking horses in 1947 with his father, Clarke Gould and was already preparing for the upcoming season, his 62nd.
 
He was a 55 year member of the Masonic Lodge and a Shriner and was active in Republican politics.
 
He was preceded in death by his wife of 44 years, Connie in 2007.
 
He was an avid Penn State football fan and was often seen at MTSU women's basketball games. 
 
Over the years he had horses with trainers Benny Johnson, Jeff Green, Jackie McConnell, Billy Young, Bobby Wells, Frankie Raby, Joe Fleming and Justin Harris.
 
Horses he showed over the years included Sun's Fancy Miss, Perfections Apache, Rebel Rebellion, Gold's Beauty Mark, Overexposed, Trimmed in Gold, Jubilee's Bright Colors, Jewels' Black Charmer and most recently, Cutter's Jewel. 
 
He will be remembered as a sportsman above all else.  
 
Funeral services will be 3 PM Sunday, January 27, 2008 at Feldhaus Memorial Chapel.  Reverend Kevin Minchey will officiate.  Burial will be at a later date in Houtzdale, Pennsylvania.

Visitation will be 12:30 until service Sunday at Feldhaus Memorial Chapel.

 

Memorials may be made to First Baptist Church or American Cancer Society.
