Woodrow Spinks, 87, passed away Saturday, September 26, 2020. He was born in Falco, Alabama. on August 23, 1933 to E.C. and Della Lundy Spinks and is preceded in death by his parents; his loving wife, Carolyn Spinks; five brothers: Enoch Spinks, J.C. Spinks, Ray Spinks, Dick Spinks and I. W. Spinks; and four sisters: V’Elna Blackman, Dellavina Howell, Irene Rowlen and Bertha Traweek. Survivors include his sister, Mary (Raymond) Weaver; two daughters, Roxanne (Bob) Cole and Renee (Rod) Adams; grandchildren; great grandchildren; and soon to be great-great grandchildren. Mr. Spinks also leaves behind a host of very close friends who will all miss him.

He worked his entire 40-year career at South Central Bell, later known as Bellsouth and AT&T. He was a member of the Pioneers and was an active member of the Walking Horse Association of Alabama for more than 60 years, serving as President for many of those years. Woodrow enjoyed being with his family, as well as being with his “horse” family, working outdoors and watching his horses in the show ring.

A graveside service will be held for Mr. Spinks at 11:00 a.m. on Wednesday, Sept. 30, 2020 at Moncrief Cemetery. Visitation will be in the chapel at Gardendale Heritage Funeral Home on Tuesday, Sept. 29, 2020 from 5 – 7 p.m. The pallbearers will be: Jeff Cornelius, Allen Blackmon, Trey Smith, Kyle Blackwood, Cody Blackwood and Derek Bryant. Honorary pallbearers will be Jacob Blackmon and Tripp Smith.
