The Prevent All Soring Tactics (PAST) Act will remain on hold as Congress has begun the August recess and won't reconvene until September 8th.  Prior to the break, Congressman Ed Whitfield (R-KY), who introduced the PAST Act issued a statement saying that it was unlikely the PAST Act would be brought to a vote in the House of Representatives this year.

Prior to the August break the PAST Act did add the Minority Whip Steny Hoyer (D-MD) to its list of co-sponsors bringing the total to 304.  Also, the Senate version introduced by Senator Kelly Ayotte added Senator Bill Nelson (D-FL) for its 57th co-sponsor.

Alternative legislation to the PAST Act that focuses on sound science, objective testing and independent oversight has been introduced by Congressman Marsha Blackburn and Senator Lamar Alexander.  Neither piece of legislation is likely to pass during this session of Congress.
