Purchase Area Celebrates 20 Years of Success

by Debbie Graham

MARTIN, Tenn. - The 20th annual Purchase Area Charity Horse Show was held on March 29, 2008, at the West Tennessee Agricultural Pavilion on the campus of the University of Tennessee at Martin in Martin, Tenn. The 2007 edition was held last October but returned to the spring date for 2008. Show chairmen Jimmy Faulkner and Kenny Ward did an excellent job coordinating two successful shows within a five-month period as well as hosting an awards banquet in February. Proceeds from the event benefit the American Cancer Society.

Steve Eli served as the master of ceremonies. Paul Livingston judged the walking classes of the show which had 181 entries. Richard Donner and Thomas Garland performed the duties of ringmaster. Farriers were Leon Forrester and Brian Hays. Brian Perry entertained the crowd with his popular organ music. Sid Abernathy was the official photographer.

In the final class of the evening, the Walking Horse Stake class, Shea Woods brought Push For Jazz to the tricolor for Jill Embry. Complete results can be viewed by clicking here.
