A Statement by Tom Blankenship, attorney for the National Horse Protection Society Regarding Senator Frist

· The Senator is aware of the recent activities and controversy surrounding the 2006 Tennessee Walking Horse National Celebration.

· The Senator is mindful of the historical significance of the Tennessee Walking Horse National Celebration and its heritage within the state of Tennessee .

· He is very concerned about the economic impact of $38.6 million dollars annually to Bedford County .

· He is extremely concerned about the financial impact on the numerous local charities that depend on the Celebration to sustain them. (The Celebration has had a longstanding policy that all the food concessions are operated by local charities).

· He is aware that there are many households that are directly impacted (i.e., trainers, breeders and owners) by any unresolved situations in Walking Horse Industry – and is steadfast in his commitment to resolve this issue in a timely manner.

· He agrees that the welfare of the Tennessee Walking Horse may not be compromised when finding appropriate resolution to this issue.

Obituary – Marcia Glessner
At 6:00 am, the morning of the 23rd of December, Marcia Glessner, passed away. She had gone through a long, hard battle with congestive heart failure. She was an only child of Ray and Doris Hazel of Johnstown, PA. She was a registered nurse at Memorial Hospital in Johnstown, PA for many years before she started training plantation horses such as Thunder’s Lavish Lady, The Power Source, Coll’s Lady H, Sweet Swirl and many more in Denver, PA. Judge denies motion to change venue and HSUS intervention
United States District Judge Matthew J. Kacsmaryk issued a decision denying the United States Department of Agriculture motion to change venue from the Amarillo division to the Dallas division. The Tennessee Walking Horse National Celebration and Tennessee Walking Horse owners Kimberly Lewis and Tom Gould filed a lawsuit challenging the Horse Protection rule that is set to go into effect February 1st . Randall W. Dixon, age 81 of Monroe GA passed away on Tuesday, January 7, 2025. He was the Founder and Chairman of the Board of the successful surveying, engineering and architectural firm Precision Planning, Inc.
