The Smoky Mountain Walking Horse Association is pleased to announce two recipients if a $500 scholarship to be presented at our show on May 14 at the Smoky Mountain Arena in Sevierville, Tennessee.

The recipients are Janie Milliken and Taylor Strickler. Janie is an elementary teacher in pursuit of her Master’s Degree. She is a longtime lover of the Tennessee Walking Horse, whether in the show ring, trail riding, or serving in the SMWHA as secretary. Her academic achievements are impressive.

Taylor has grown up on the family farm with her horses. She has won many honors showing them, including ETWHA Youth Rider and world grand championship youth. She continues to work in helping to raise money for shows as well as facilitating other aspects of the local horse industry. She too has an outstanding academic record. We feel both of these young ladies are wonderful representatives of our horse and with them continued success in their studies.
