The South Carolina Walking Horse Association (SCWHA) is pleased to announce the recipients of the 2008 annual scholarships.  The SCWHA awards two $1,000 scholarships annually. This year¹s recipients are Melissa Ann Burnette and Caroline Elizabeth O Neil.
 
Melissa is in her junior year at the University of Georgia¹s College of Veterinary Medicine.  Melissa is the daughter of Charles & Debbie Burnette of Greer, South Carolina.  Melissa¹s mom¹s side of the family has been involved with Tennessee Walking Horse for over 65 years.  For the past thirteen years, Melissa has shown and actively participated in the shows on the South Carolina TWH show circuit.  She has won numerous high point awards.
 
Caroline is a junior at Auburn University majoring in Radio, Television & Film.  Caroline is the daughter of Chris and Laurie Coats of Gilbert, South Carolina. Ten years ago Caroline met her first Tennessee Walking Horse.  His
name was Clyde.  Caroline also shows on the South Carolina TWH show circuit. This year she became involved with the therapeutic riding center at Auburn University and according to Caroline, ³my love of horses in general was
something I was able to share with these amazing kids going through some difficult times.
 
The South Carolina Walking Horse Association wish both of these ladies much success in their education and their careers.
