SPARTA, Tenn. - Fall was definitely in the air on Saturday evening, Sept. 6, 2008, as many donned their sweaters and jackets to attend the White County Fair Open to the World Horse Show. The event was held at the White County Fairgrounds in Sparta, Tenn. Ronnie Spears traveled from Tullahoma, Tenn., to judge the 29-classes made up of approximately 180 entries, including walking, racking and gaited mule contenders.

The final event of the night brought out the aged horses vying for the title of Walking Horse Stake Champion. When the winning number was called, it was Stretch Armstrong and Sonny Holt who were called to the winner’s circle. Reserve in the class went to Rio Grande and Bill Bilbrey for owner Ronnie Slagle.
