SUMTER, S.C. – The Sumter County Walking Horse Championship Show was held at Dillon Park on Saturday, May 2, 2009. Competitors traveled from all across the state and even several neighboring states to compete and enjoy the show. The proceeds from this event were gathered to benefit the Shriner’s Hospital Transportation Fund. The money from this fund is used to transport sick patients and their family to hospitals that are better suited for their particular illness or ongoing care.

Capturing the coveted Walking Horse Championship title at this year’s show was the team of Stan Tindal and Santana’s Bedazzled. Harold Stubbs is the owner of this mare who just moved up to aged competition this season. Rounding out the top three places were David Boyce and Pusher’s Big Bucks in second and Major Gee Whiz and Robert Kellett finishing third.
