Sunshine and good weather are the best allies a construction crew can have.

That is certainly the case with the crews working on the construction of the new box seats on the east side of the Celebration Arena.

"As the sun has begun to shine, so have the crews working on the new construction," explained Celebration board member Charles McDonald, chairman of the Facilities and Equipment Committee.

The new construction will replace all the reserved seats on the east side of the arena with 348 new boxes totaling 2,090 seats. The new boxes sold out in less than three weeks.

"The great weather has allowed the workers from Volunteer Paint to work every day cleaning and sandblasting the superstructure," relayed McDonald. "This work will prepare the steel for the laying of the walkboards and seatboards. When we get to that point, things will start to happen very fast."

The project was a major undertaking to be completed between show seasons.

The project remains on schedule. "So far everything looks good for a completion date of May 31st. Good weather goes a long way when you're trying to finish a project of this magnitude," McDonald said.
