Uncle Nearest Premium Whiskey to relocate to Sand Creek Farms

The historic Sand Creek Farms recently sold to Uncle Nearest Premium Whiskey, who will locate their distillery on the famous Tennessee Walking Horse farm in Shelbyville. The final deal was concluded after the commission voted unanimously to rezone the property paving the way for the distillery to operate on the farm.
The 270-acre Sand Creek Farms will be restored to its former glory days. Over 100 acres of corn will be planted and named the Field of Dreams with walking paths throughout and wells delivering natural spring water. Nearest Green Distillery will use local contractors and vendors in the renovation and well-know Walking Horse enthusiast Thom Meek will serve as the architect according to an article on Business Wire.
Several of the existing buildings will be converted for distillery operations. The large hay barn will be renovated into a 3,500 barrel rickhouse. There will also be gift shop and tasting room and one of the horse barns is being converted into the Nearest Green History Walk. The current sale barn is being re-imagined to double as a private concert venue for country music artists.

Dr. Milton “Alan” Miller, age 87, of Murfreesboro, TN passed away July 13, 2026 in his home and was welcomed by his Savior Jesus into heaven.
