Dr. Todd Behre, USDA APHIS horse protection coordinator, told the Report late Tuesday evening, March 14, that the USDA has announced its plan to enforce the “sniffer.”

“USDA's immediate plan to begin enforcement measures with the ‘sniffer’ technology was reported to the HIO working group today (Tuesday), and all HIOs were represented,” said Behre. The announcement was made in Missouri, a day after the second USDA Listening Session was held.

Dr. Behre said the USDA’s Legislative and Public Affairs office is preparing a press release with more detailed information regarding this new enforcement. The Report will post this information as soon as it becomes available.
