TROY, Va. – The Virginia Walking Horse Association held a Field Day for members and guests on Saturday, April 5, 2008, at Larry Davis’s Greystone Farm. Horse enthusiasts arrived at 11 a.m. and stayed until late afternoon. The event kicked off with a presentation of various horses for sale and new show ring purchases.

Bobby Moss Stables presented quite a few new horses for their 2008 show string. Grandy Tuck Stables made the long trip from North Carolina to participate and enjoy the festivities. Bill Reel Stables presented two horses for sale. Delawder Stables introduced two new riders for the 2008 season.

Veteran trainer, judge and all around horseman Benny Johnson gave a very informative clinic on the requirements of presenting a horse to the DQP at shows and some of the aspects of judging walking horses. The crowd took a well-needed break and enjoyed a delicious pork roast and chicken barbecue with all the many trimmings prepared by Chef Gary Hammer and assisted by Joy Lam.
