The Walking Horse Trainers’ Association (WHTA) board of directors met on Wednesday April 18, 2012 to discuss implementation of their new enforcement initiative.  The board voted unanimously to form the enforcement division of the WHTA in the next 30 days and on the advice of independent veterinary counsel, to begin collecting swabs and blood samples to establish a baseline for enforcement purposes.

The WHTA will work with all HIOs to assure a WHTA issued license be required at all of their affiliated shows.  WHTA Counsel and independent veterinarians will have protocols for the new initiative drafted and in place in the next 30 days.

After baselines, protocols and testing of the new program have been completed the WHTA will establish a penalty protocol and inform its membership of the implementation date of the new program.
