WHTA Youth Council Held First Meeting Of 2009
Friday, June 12, 2009
The WHTA Youth Council held its first meeting of 2009. This was a combined meeting for March and May. Election of officers was held and the new 2009 slate of officers is as listed: President Lindsey Landrum, First Vice President Corey Green, Second Vice President Meghan Davis and Board Members Alexandria Holland and Thomas Derickson.
In the spirit of helping the industry and keeping the one-night horse shows alive, the youth passed a motion to help sponsor some of the one-night shows this year. Times are tough, within the industry and economy, and the kids want to help out. They challenge every organization, association and individual to do the same thing. The WHTA Youth has pledged up to $2,000 to help these one-night shows, and they hope others will do the same.
Plans are in the works to have some “youth nights” at upcoming shows. Be watching for this information to be made available very soon.
The meeting only had a few in attendance, but all agreed, "We may not be many, but we are mighty.” These youths’ determination and desire to help this industry and make horse shows fun and successful is absolutely outstanding.
