The annual spring membership meeting of the Wisconsin Walking Horse Association was one all members anticipate, and this year, Program Chairman Bob Rodenkirch picked another winner, an attractive place a ways west of Milwaukee called Thunder Bay Grill. The food was excellent and the big private room for the before dinner get-together, the dinner and the meeting was nicely done.

This meeting was dedicated to the present and future youth members. Chairman of the Youth Kim Von Asten and co-chair Jenny Kippley were more than happy with the number and quality of articles and services members offered to raise money at the after dinner auction for the younger members. Von Asten and Kippley are dedicated and hard working members of the WWHA Board and accomplish anything they undertake. It was a nice surprise to see the selection of donated items and the results of the auction.

Before the auction took place, Board President Terre Huebner conducted the business meeting which included discussion and voting over changes to the bylaws, all of which were approved. This was followed by the head of each committee on the board giving their reports which led to premier auctioneer Bill Butler taking over for the auction. With Butler’s expertise, the auction made almost $1,000 for the youth group.

The Wisconsin show season will start May 2 and after a bitter cold winter season, everyone is ready for the show season to begin.
