APHIS Administrator Shares 2018 Impact Report
Wednesday, August 21, 2019
(Editor's note: the following is a press release from the USDA)
Dear Stakeholders:
On any given day, you may receive a stakeholder announcement, program update or other information about APHIS programs and services. These updates are important because they give you a sense of the day-to-day work of our Agency, but it’s just as vital for us to take a step back and really look at how what we do ensures American agriculture is healthy and profitable.
That’s why I am happy to announce the first-ever APHIS Impact Report. This short and easy-to-read document highlights the key results of the agency’s work in 2018 by the numbers. Things like the 100% eradication of pink bollworm, more than 200 markets opened/expanded/retained for U.S. agricultural products, a $50 million net savings from 7 deregulatory market access proposed rules, among many others.
I hope you will take a few minutes to check out the APHIS 2018 Impact Report, which truly illustrates our commitment to protecting the health and value of America’s agriculture and natural resources. We plan to do an APHIS Impact Report yearly going forward.
Sincerely,
Kevin Shea
APHIS Administrator
